don't work with children and animals! oops must have missed that piece of advice.

So you have heard the saying, don't work with children and animals! Well for me I'm making a business out of it, well maybe not just at the moment with Covid19! As someone who has been unable to have my own children, I've had so much pleasure being able to document my niece and nephews as they grow up. From styled photoshoots to candid shots we have done the lot, horses, hens and the dog have all featured, though Jake the cat has always escaped!

There is something quite magical in capturing children at play, while I am always blown away by how mature all my young models are when we are doing a 'serious' studio or on location model shoot. With mum and dad banished from my studio on the edge of the Lake District or out of eye contact on location somewhere in Cumbria or North  Lancashire, my little models are attentive and full of their own ideas too as to how they would like the images to look. Creating beautiful wall art from my photography gives me a lot of pleasure so it is always a delight seeing my images secure pride of place on a client's family wall.

During our latest trip to New Zealand, my niece - she is 6 - decided she wanted the results of her early morning photoshoot to be made into a video, accompanied by music. I was very impressed with her creative direction as she chose the images she wanted, and talked about the type of music she'd like. Another wonderful memory to treasure. This was quickly followed by a Christmas experience gift from me to the three kids of surf lessons at Mount Maunganui. I might be a big kid myself, but I had so much fun jumping about in the waves capturing the trepidation, then the absolute joy as all three mastered the art of surfing.

While we all adapt to this new way of living and working, I'm going to spend some time creating some rather unique works of art from my portrait photographs, if there is a favourite photo you would like me to experiment with drop me a line.
